APPROACH

If you don't like things stuffy, but a timeless quality paired with a happy energy sounds like your speed, then we may make a pretty good team! I love good people, a good hang, and big adventures. At the same time, I revere beauty, authenticity, and organization.

I'm continually refining my process in the hopes of approaching each session and wedding with honesty. I embrace the philosophy of a relaxed work ethic, meeting each individual where they are. It’s about meaning > perfection. Plus, this is the BEST day ever - so celebrate it up!

The photographer/client dynamic is a special relationship.

You’ll spend more time with your photographer than almost any other vendor, and you’ll also have to be a bit vulnerable (yikes, did I lose you yet?).I do not believe photographers are one-size-fits-all, because your wedding day is not one-size-fits-all. →

Let’s face it: getting your picture taken can feel awwwwkward. But this is where a good photographer comes in. Actually, this is where your photographer comes in. You’ll find relatability, guidance, but also posing-while-not-posing with someone that you trust. →

Research photographers and find someone who you connect with, feel comfortable around, and maybe even can make you laugh!

My working style falls somewhere between a healthy balance of focused and relaxed. I take weddings seriously: the sacredness, the purpose, my task at hand as the photographer. But I also like to make my role in the day as uncomplicated as possible for my couples. I work hard on the front-end to have all my ducks in a row so that the day-of can be focused on creating a photography experience that is low-pressure and joyful!

There's many moving components during a wedding day, but I want my part to facilitate ease. I prioritize the timeline, while leaving room for my clients to focus on their time together, because that's what matters most.

Your job is to show up, my job is to guide you. I like to think that during a session, I'm your #1 fan first, and your photographer second. You can think that's corny, it's OK, I'm a little corny. But really, I want you to feel comfortable and then look at your delivered photos and say, "Wait, that's ME? YES!" You are capable of more than you know, but I have no expectations for you to pose like a model. Hopefully before your session we have met and gotten to know each other, which helps alleviate some nerves, but even if our first time meeting is during your photoshoot, we will spend some time getting to know each other, and I will guide you through poses and natural interactions. It can take as long as 20 minutes to start to relax and feel comfortable in front of the camera, but I'm right there with you every step of the way!

There’s so many elements that have to jazz in order to create a beautiful image. Besides a million technical aspects I won’t bore you with, good photos are supported by your environment where you, the client, will seep inspiration. As an artist, I’m always looking for beauty in the world, and if a garage is our only backdrop, dadgummit, I will work miracles to make that the best location it can be. But my hope is that my clients will enjoy where they’re having their picture taken, because anything that facilitates a better photography experience in turn facilitates a more comfortable session. Aiola, more beautiful photos!

I’m an outdoor girl who thrives in nature; from the lowcountry of the Carolinas to the mountains of the PNW, or, hey, maybe even your own backyard, I work hard to bring justice to the landscape around me.

Then there's lighting. Lighting changes everything, friend. I chase the pretty light to create beautiful, flattering images.

It’s a cocktail for some timeless, gorgeous, and dare I say rad images (sorry, my husband is a surfer).

I’m a wife, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I’ve also been a working photographer for half a decade, and I’ve had my fair share of bumps in the road, mistakes, and insecure moments. I’ve also had wins, studied a lot, and persevered. I believe all of this has allowed me to have more empathy towards my clients. I’m not ashamed to say - actually, I’m proud to say - that the love, support, encouragement, and time of others has strengthened me to continue this career that I’m so thankful for. All that to say, my experiences have shaped the way I approach the client experience. When you step in front of my camera, there are no expectations and no need to reach some impossible pinnacle of perfection. The you that is comfortable, happy, and with the person you love is pretty great, in my book. I’ll cheer you on, support you, and help you feel the best you can feel, for the most beautiful images that will have you saying, “Wait, that’s me?!” Yes! The you that was there all along.
